**Trail Closure Alert**
The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation has closed the section of the Devil's Path hiking trail beginning from the Pecoy Notch Trail to the Twin Mountain summit due to dangerous conditions resulting from recent vandalism of the steel rungs that were installed on the trail in August 2019. The Department installed the steel rungs to assist hikers with climbing a difficult rock face, found just below the peak, and to reduce the amount of environmental degradation resulting from visitors seeking an alternative route. The vandalism has created a safety hazard for visitors utilizing this section of trail. This trail will be temporarily closed until appropriate measures are taken to rectify the situation.
Although the Devil's Path trail will be closed on the western approach to Twin Mountain, hikers may still access the summit from the east utilizing the Jimmy Dolan Notch Trail from Prediger Road or via the Devil's Path from Indian Head Mountain.
