Catskills Attractions: Open/Closed Status & COVID Hours

Museums & Cultural Interest

Olana State Historic Site – park is open every day from 8am to sunset, guided tours on Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Museum store open Friday-Sunday 10am-4pm.

Gilboa Museum – currently closed

Empire State Railroad Museum in Phoenicia – open Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm

Thomas Cole National Historic Site – Main building closed. Pollinator Pavilion outdoor art exhibit open. Grounds open from dawn to dusk every day. Education kits available for pick up/take home use Thursdays-Sundays.

Opus 40 – open Thursday-Monday from 11am to 5pm (groups of 5 people or less, 2 hour maximum visit), call to make a reservation

Bethel Woods Museum – open 7 days a week from 10-5

Hanford Mills Museum – open for tours by preappointment Wednesday through Sunday 10am to 2:30pm (no walk-ins) now through the end of the season. Call to reserve.

Time and the Valleys Museum – currently closed

Catskill Animal Sanctuary – closed until further notice

Woodstock Animal Sanctuary – currently closed, offering virtual tours through Zoom

Museums and Cultural Interest in the Hudson and Rondout Valley (Kingston, High Falls, etc.)

The Matthewis Persen House – currently closed

Senate House State Historic Site – limited capacity tours available Wednesday-Saturday from 10am to 5pm, Sunday 1-5pm (tours go out on the hour, last tour 4pm, some tours can be reserved in advance) Closed Mon-Tues 

Hudson River Maritime Museum – open Friday-Sunday from 12pm to 5pm

D&H Canal Museum – currently closed, virtual museum tours on their website

Trolley Museum of New York – open on weekends and holidays from 12 to 5pm. Tours depart every 30 minutes.

The Century House Historical Society – estate and trails/grounds are open for self-guided tours 10-6pm daily

Preserves, Parks & Nature Centers

Mountaintop Arboretum – Arboretum grounds open dawn to dusk / education center & restrooms currently closed

Mine Kill State Park – trails are open/visitor center is closed

Esopus Bend Nature Preserve + Falling Waters Preserve – trails are open 

Sloan Gorge Preserve – trails are open

Thorn Preserve – trails are open

Platte Clove Preserve – trails are open

Ski Resorts and Attractions

Hunter – chair lift currently closed
Zip line is open for private reservations Mon-Wed, and open Thurs-Sat from 10-5

Belleayre – Catskill Thunder Gondola ride is open Sat-Sun 10-5. Trails are open for walking and biking. Belleayre Beach is open Wednesday-Friday 11-6, and Saturday-Sunday 10-7 (closed Monday and Tuesday). 

Windham – Bike Park and Scenic Skyride are open

Catskill Mountain Railroad – open

Delaware Ulster Railroad – currently closed

Rail Explorers – open 7 days a week, book in advance. New schedules with staggered starts for social distancing.

Tinker Tubes – currently closed

Alternative Swimming Areas

Belleayre Beach – limited to first 50 people. Open Wed-Fri 11-6 and Sat-Sun 10-7 (closed M&T)

State Campground beaches (Mongaup Pond, Little Pond, North/South Lake, Beaverkill) – swimming available as long as a lifeguard is on duty (visitor should call campground ahead of time to check on lifeguard status) – small day use charge required about $8, no reservations required

Minnewaska State Park (slightly outside of the Catskills) – parking reduced due to COVID, lots fill in the morning. Park open 9am until 7pm, day use $10 parking fee

Indoor Swimming/Recreation 

Catskill Recreation Center – pool is open by reservation. Outdoor and virtual fitness classes being offered.
