Route 23A in Kaaterskill Clove Closed for Emergency Repairs - 8/9/2018

8.10.2018 Update: NYSDOT has opened a single lane of Route 23A through Kaaterskill Clove. Traffic is currently passing through in both directions via a temporary traffic signal.

PRIOR UPDATE: State Route 23A between Palenville and Haines Falls is currently closed for emergency repairs.

Alternative routes to the mountaintop area (Hunter, Tannersville, Haines Falls) include

  • From the north: Route 23 from Catskill to Windham and then Route 296 to Hunter
  • From the south: Follow Route 28 to Route 214 in Phoenicia. Take Route 214 north to Route 23A between Hunter and Tannersville

Please note that there is NO ACCESS to the Kaaterskill Falls Trail from Route 23A.

No date for reopening has been announced.

For More Information: Visit the Catskill Park's visitor center, the Maurice D Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center at 5096 Route 28 in Mt Tremper, NY.
