Please help create a vision for our Village and its waterways by attending and sharing your ideas at a series of upcoming community workshops this October.
The Village of Tannersville is beginning a process to improve local quality of life in the Village by developing a plan to revitalize the Gooseberry Creek Corridor and Rip Van Winkle Lake. The Gooseberry Creek Revitalization Strategy and Lake Restoration Plan will be prepared with funding provided by the New York State Department of State under Title 11 of the Environmental Protection Fund.
A series of community workshops over three days will focus on the community's vision for revitalizing the Village and its waterway. "The involvement of all community members is critical to developing a strategy that uses our incredible assets to maintain a high quality of life," says Village Mayor, Lee McGunnigle. A team of consultants selected by the Village and the Hunter Foundation will lead this community engagement process to help craft the community's vision. The team, led by River Street Planning & Development, is known for developing strategies based on strong community engagement, visionary community design and exciting graphics that communicate a community's vision. Margaret Irwin, Principal of River Street Planning and Development, describes the vision and design workshops as using a "high intensity and highly collaborative approach that gives real power to citizen input...Planners and designers will respond to community preferences in 'real time'."
