    On Sunday, May 1, the Word & Image Gallery at Bright Hill Literary Center will open its second exhibit of the season, "And Then Along Comes Mary: Quip Notes, Digital Paintings, and Landscape Notes" by Oneonta artist Sven Anderson.  The opening reception will take place from 3 -5 pm, and Mr. Anderson will give a gallery talk about his inspiration and process at 4 pm. Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to this free event. The exhibit will continue through May 27; gallery hours are Mon. - Tues., 10 am - 4 pm; Wed. & Sat., 10 am - Noon; during Word Thursdays evenings May 12 and 26; and by appointment.

MFA in Printmaking from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and a BFA from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Hewas invited to work with Stanley William Hayter at Atelier 17 in Paris, France. Sven has exhibited in, and has work in several museums and university and private collections including the Art Institute of Chicago; the Detroit Institute of Arts; the Kansas City Museum of Art; the Cranbrook Academy of Art Museum; the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts. In recent years, Sven has made a transition from hand-pulled printmaking to the digital arts. The earliest phase of the transition included using a computer CAD program to engrave onto magnesium plates for further engraving by hand and etching. He also experimented with printing on plaster, and one of his plaster prints was selected by the Los Angeles Printmaking Society for the frontispiece in the prestigious "Survey of Contemporary American Prints." Sven currently serves as an assistant for several of the Ansel Adams Gallery Photography Workshops in Yosemite. He currently teaches computer art at the SUNY Oneonta. He was selected by Apple Computer as an "Apple Distinguished Educator", one of the first in the world. Sven currently lives in Oneonta, NY, with his wife, Karen, and their daughter, Regan.
