First Night 2019 Hike/Snowshoe

  • Maurice D. Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center 5096 State Route 28 Mt. Tremper, NY 12457 United States (map)

Join the Catskill Interpretive Center on the evening of January 1st for a fun, easy hike to ring in the start of the New Year. We’ll hike just as the day turns to dusk, watch the light change, and finish with a campfire! Snowshoes are encouraged if we get snow beforehand.

Length of trail + time:

We’ll hike a 1.5 mile section of trail on the CIC property, ending with a warm cup of cocoa by the fire.

Level:

Easy and open to all. A great opportunity to try snowshoeing for the first time or just enjoy a casual evening walk in the woods.

To bring:

Wear layers (preferably wool or polyester) and a small backpack with a bottle of water. Bring a headlamp if you have one, otherwise we’ll provide extras. Waterproof shoes or boots encouraged.

In case of significant snow, feel free to bring snowshoes! If you don’t already have them, e-mail as soon as you can for information on renting from Jimmy’s Belleayre Ski Shop.
